Location
Half Moon Bay California, on the cliffs above Poplar beach.Time
It was in the early afternoon around 2 pm.Lighting
It was taken from a low angle (I was kneeling down), so that the lighting would look like it was painting the underside.Equipment
All my photos are taken with my iPhone, I started with an iPhone 5s now I use an iPhone 6.Inspiration
Many things inspired me, the fact that nature can create something so beautiful without artifice or design. I also love to capture things that seem slightly magical, that make you stop for a moment and feel rejuvenated.Editing
I used a standard iPhone filter (instant), then I used Instagram tools like structure, brightness, saturation, highlights and shadows to make it pop.In my camera bag
Just my phone, I use a couple different applications for editing: Instagram, PhotoGrid, Pixlr, Aviary.Feedback
Timing, I think any photographer will tell you that timing makes a big difference to the lighting. Be adventurous, I found this place completely by accident and having my camera with made sure I could capture it. Quantity, take a lot of pictures. Try different angles, experiment. You'd be surprised what photos actually work. Low angles. I like feeling like giving my photos dimensions, so I often shoot from a low angle (kneeling down, etc). Walk away, when editing I'll often do a first pass then walk away to give myself some space from the image. Often times I'm happy with the first edit, but sometimes I find a way to make it better.
