Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in the old town part of Montreal. I was being a tourist there when I came across a cosplay model posing for a photographer. I snapped this picture while the other photographer was checking her camera.

Time

It was in the late afternoon. Sunny day, but this area was in shade from the tall buildings.

Lighting

Sunny day with blue sky, the model was in shade uniformly lit by the afternoon ligh.

Equipment

I used Canon 4ti with 18-135 STM lens, hand held.

Inspiration

The cosplay model looked nice, and she was posing for other photographer, I took this opportunity to take a couple of pictures.

Editing

The photo was cleaned up a lot. First it was straitened, distracting elements of the background removed. Sharpening was applied. The fake tattoo on the models stomach was cleaned up. Colours adjusted. The shape of the model was a bit changed. I used Gimp for all the processing.

In my camera bag

Since I was on vacation, I was caring just the camera and the lens. Normally I would have an external flash to add better light to the picture.

Feedback

In this case it was pure luck, a cosplay convention finished and some models were posing for photographers in the public square. When you see an opportunity take it.
