This photo was taken in Kenya - Masaai Mara This photo won the 1st prize of baby Animal contest from NWF https://www.nwf.org/News-and-Magazines/National-Wildlife/PhotoZone/Archives/2013/2013-NW-Photo-Contest-Winners.aspx

Time

Returning to camp on safari to Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve, I spotted a group of lionesses and cubs that had just finished feasting on a zebra carcass. As the adults napped, their cubs played—this one chasing mom’s tail, which wiggled and writhed like a snake. When I was leaving, the cub finally caught the tail and looked at me, providing this last photo of the day. I think this is a rare moment ... I never seen the same picture ...

Lighting

It was about 5PM and the sky was grey with no light ... but the lion cub was playing with her mom's tail and I tried to take the picture anyway ... I was lucky using professional material with a very sensitive sensor.

Nikon D3S 1/320s f7,1 ISO 1600 400mm/F4

Inspiration

nothing inspired me ... as usual with wildlife photography we must be opportunitic and ready to shoot very quickly

Editing

no post-processing ... only minors corrections (contrast and color)

In my camera bag

I bring a D4 and a D800E with a 24/70 a 70/200 and a 200/400 When I want to shoot birds I use a 600mm ... sometimes with a multiplier X2
