So much of this shot is made by the dramatic sky. The broken clouds also shed variable light on the fields making for some complexity in the light.Equipment
Canon Powershot A630 with wide angle extender and a tripod.Inspiration
The way the sky looked, offset by the barn. The dynamic relation between the peacefulness of the classic old barn and the wild sky.Editing
Quite a bit of boost to saturation. I had to lighten the close side of the barn or it would have been lost in shadow. In my camera bag
This shot was taken in 2010. Today I use a Sony NEX 6 with a 16 to 50 mm kit zoom, a 55 - 200 sony zoom and a 55 mm minolta prime lens. I also carry an ND filter and a tripod.Feedback
I drive past a lot of old barns and other scenes that I think to myself, I'll come back here and shoot this on another day when I have more time. Make sure you do. Another facet of this photo are the wild flowers in the foreground. Too often photographers get so wrapped up in the primary subject they forget both foreground and background. Very important.
