This is back out at Sauvie Island, taken last August (2012). These little American Goldfinch(yellow finch) were literally everywhere. I had my telephoto, trying to get a shot for at least an hour, but whenever my mom would stop the car, they would just flutter away! It was getting really frustrating, so eventually, I just hop out of the car and go walk into a field myself, trying to get a shot. As soon as I have my back turned, one of them lands on a thistle right next to the car, and my mom can't honk or yell or anything for fear of scaring it away. Luckily, I turned around to see her pointing at the plant like a mad man, and I was able to finally snap 3 good shots before it flew away again.
