I turned to say goodbye and to take this picture. The power station, the incinerator's smokestack, the car crusher death machine, the wet mud with heavy machinery tire tracks, the distant window sign, "in tow," seen at the top of hundreds of crushed cars. And now our forever faithful, rust-free and proud 24 year old family van. All very stark and full of reality. The operator said it did not matter if I left the key in the ignition. And I wept.
