Great shot. I love the intensity in the eyes!

Nice shot here. There are a couple of area's in the black that could be cleaned up in photoshop. To the right of the nose and above the head there are background image or noise that has not been removed. Other than that the shot is great.

This image was taken at my local zoo

Time

This image was taken late afternoon, I had to wait for the light to be perfect to be able to take the image and process it in this way

Lighting

I had this image in my mind before I even arrived at the venue, I knew I wanted a low key type shot so I waited for the right moment before capturing the moment

Equipment

For this image I used my Canon 1Diii Canon,100-400L

Inspiration

I created this style around 1 year ago and have been photographing animals in this way ever since, I had the shot in mind well before I took it as I do with all of my images

Editing

This consists of a mixture of adjustment brushes to create the background, contrast boosts and high pass filters although I can't reveal all of my secrets ;)

In my camera bag

I tend to carry a lot of equipment when I'm out which consists of my canon 1Diii, Canon 5D, Canon 24-105L, Canon 100-400L, Canon 600mm, Canon 1.4tc, Various Flashes, spare batteries, field glasses, spare memory cards you name it I have it with me

Feedback

Have an image in mind before you even leave the house. Try to capture some emotion that you can convey to anyone viewing your image, as a photographer I want to tell a story so even if it takes me a week to get the shot I wanted it doesn't faze me I just keep going until I get it.
