Behind The Lens

Location

Tuscarora Lake in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.

Time

I was hiking with my camera for hours on this day. This photo was taken in the afternoon around 3 p.m.

Lighting

The afternoon lighting and the colors were so perfect. That I submitted this photo untouched. I couldn't have asked for more perfect outdoor lighting at that moment.

Equipment

I used my Canon Rebel T1I. I don't recall the settings. I shot this photo without the use of a tripod or flash. It truly is all natural.

Inspiration

I was inspired to shoot this photo by all the amazing colors and the serene feeling that it brought to me. The water was calm and peaceful and the canoes just seemed perfect. The photo just came together in my eye.

Editing

No this photo has not been touched. The day and that moment was just perfect for a photographer's moment.

In my camera bag

Canon EOS Rebel T1i Tamaron lens Di 18-270mm Canon lens 18-55mm Lightening filters Lens hood Extra battery Battery charger Extra SD cards Rain ponchos USB converter for laptop NIKON point & shoot camera Change for drinks A bag of jerky A tube of arthritis cream (old bones bad back) Flint (fire starter) in case I get stuck in the woods over night. Mace ( pepper spray) Survival knife (I shoot a lot of nature photos and sometimes I cut thicket and weeds out before shooting a photo and to protect myself)

Feedback

Take a day by yourself with no distractions. Pack a backpack with food and drink and grab your camera bag and go. With a plan in place, know where you want to go. Spend a few hours in one place shooting than move to another taking notes of times and places you shoot without a flash and when you begin using a flash if you chose to do so. When you review your photos make note of your favorite lightening and go from there. Best wishes to all my photographer friends.
