Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was shoot at a ruined hotel in Baguio, called the Diplomat Hotel

Time

I've taken this shot near noon time about 11am indoor or inside the ruined hotel

Lighting

Since the location was a ruined hotel, there are spots of lighting coming from the outside. The nicest thing about the lighting in this photo is the available source of light at the back of the model and when the model is positioned at the door near the lighted space it created a sort of rim lighting or highlight in the face in other part of the model which made it more dramatic

Equipment

I used Nikon D3 in this photo with Nikkor 24-70mm at f2.8 ISO 200...there was no tripod and available light was used in this photo

Inspiration

The inspiration behind this photo is the location...It is a challenge to create a fashion photo in a place where you have to find an available lighting condition. Another thing that inspired me to create such image is when an idea pop out of my mind when I saw how the model was framed I thought " Later I will make a composite out of this singe image"

Editing

Since my plan was to make sort of twins in my image I did post-process it...The photo was actually a single person inverted. With the use of Adobe Photoshop I did a composite..I make sure that image will look like they are different persons or twins but they are not...I used some texture and color the background red and the other yellow

In my camera bag

Now what I usually have in my bag is my Nikon D3s and Nikon D810 because I love shooting portraits...My lens are Nikkor 80mm 1.4, Nikkor 24-70 f2.8 because this is a flexible lens and Nikkor 70-200 f2.8

Feedback

To be able to capture something similar a good location is a must like finding a ruined house, church where the subject can be framed, with a nice source of available light from the outside to create a dramatic lighting. Shoot raw so that it will be easier to adjust the shadows and highlights.
