Behind The Lens

Location

Rocky Mountain National Park

Time

This photo was taken at around 9 am late in November. I was out looking for wildlife shots when I noticed the wind whipping the snow around higher up. Between that and the Moon setting, I thought I had found a great shot.

Lighting

The lighting for this shot was completely natural, I thought the combination of a cloudless bright blue sky, a pale setting moon and then the snow being blown around was perfect.

Equipment

Canon 40D handheld with the Canon 70-200mm f4 IS L lens @150mm

Inspiration

Honestly, my inspiration came from the lack of wildlife shots available on that day. I may have very well missed it had I spent the morning photographing elk, moose and others. I had started looking for other subjects when the wind and snowplay caught my eye.

Editing

No post processing other than photomerge (2 photos in panorama) and cropping.

In my camera bag

Canon 7D, Canon 70-200mm f4 IS L, Sigma 150-500mm OS and a 1.4 and 2x extenders. Though, most times I do not use a bag...I use a chest cotton carrier system.

Feedback

Just keep your eyes open, as I stated earlier, had I gotten what I wanted, I would have most likely never taken this image.
