Location
The photo was taken at Arches National Park and it is one side of the Specticle Arches.Time
I took the picture in the early evening.Lighting
If you go to Arches, morning light and especially evening light is the best time to take pictures. In the evening, the rocks turn a spectacular reddish color.Equipment
I was trying out a new Canon 70D that my wife had given me for Christmas. She was wise enough to pair it up with a new Canon zoom lens EF 16-35mm 1:2.8L II USM. I did not use any filters or a tripod. PS - I have a great wife.Inspiration
I wanted to be able to get some way for someone looking at the picture to get a feel for the size of the arch. Thank goodness that the lady decided to stand in the picture to give that sense of size.Editing
I have started using Intensify Pro. I usually use Seattle, HDR, and Clarity presets. I also did some other adjustments as need.In my camera bag
I use a Canon 70D and a Canon Rebel T1i cameras. The lens I carry are the ones that came with the cameras, plus a Canon zoom lens EF 16-35mm 1:2.8L II USM; a Canon zoom lens EF-5 10-22mm 1:3.5-4.5 USM; and a Canon zoom lens EF 70-200mm 1:2.8 L IS II USM plus UV and CP filters for each. I carry a tripod and remote for the camera, a pair of binoculars, and a flash light.Feedback
I have been to Arches four times and still have not seen all of the park. My suggestion is to revisit places and continue to explore and do not be afraid to take a path less traveled, but remember the path traveled was traveled for a reason. I did travel the path heavily traveled and got a great photo that I had missed the other three times I visited the Park.
