This is a shot of a Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus), this bird is the fastest animal species on the planet. The Peregrine is renowned for its speed, reaching over 322 km-h (200 mph) during its characteristic hunting stoop (high speed dive),making it the fastest member of the animal kingdom by a large margin. It was very difficult to shoot this bird in flight because of the speed and small size of the subject. This shot was taken at 300mm using the Nikkor 55-300mm F4.5-5.6 VR lens.

Such a beautiful bird, which has to be one of my favourite models, I got so many great shots of it it is hard to choose. This shot of yours captures that moment after the thrill of the chase when it stands with its prey getting its breath back before the reward of the kill, great shot.
