Location
It's Coney Island beach, Brooklyn, New York.Time
It was after long day I decided it's time to go to Coney Island for some fresh memories + I still wasn't there with my Zeiss to get some super sharp images. That night I was shooting in two locations, both next to each other. Didn't seem I'll get a good sunset photo coz of thick mass of clouds but than horizon line get lite up with yellow mellow stripe. What a luck! Rest just was technical thing to compose and shoot right direction.Lighting
It was the last light I didn't expected at all to open thick mass of clouds. I was lucky enough that evening to get reflected sunset and pretty strong strip of light in the sky!Equipment
Well equipment... Canon 5D Mark III, Zeiss 15mm 2.8 Really Right Stuff BH-40 ball head and 055 CXPRO3 tripod plus remote.Inspiration
It's very hard to say that someone inspire me for any of my photos. I just get out and shoot. I have some voice inside which reminds me that I have to get out and shoot! It's time! I love what I do so inspiration sits inside of me! :)Editing
Yes there are post processing involved since I shoot raw. It's a must. In this photo I lowered highlights to get more details in that yellow strip of light and opened some shadows on forground rocks. Added some contrast and clarity. Next step was to intense yellow saturation and post crop vignetting effect to make that sky look much darker and sunset colors pop out even more and draw viewers eye only one direction! To the brightest and most colorful point in this photo! In my camera bag
I carry around a lot of stuff I need or not. :) when I know where and what I'll shoot I'll lighten my bag at home or hotel. So I have two positions of my bag. :) one is all stuff I got with laptop, hards, lenses, camera, brushes, chargers, remotes and filters and another may include just necessary stuff I think I'll need for specific shoot. Extra weight is thrown out. On longer hikes I have water bladder with me too and some snacks. For gear geeks in my bag is 5D Mark III camera body, lenses L line 8-15mm fisheye, 16-35mm 2.8 24-70mm 2.8 100mm 2.8 Macro, 70-200mm 2.8, Zeiss 15mm 2.8 (my favorite) 1.4x and 2x teleconverters, 5 batteries for 5D two speed lights coz you never now. 12aaa and 12aa batteries. 3 regular remotes for shutter and one with timer for time lapses and more controlled exposures. 3; 4; 5; 10 stop NDs and 3; 4 stop GND filters from Singh Ray, Color Combo polarizer 95mm Singh Ray. Did I mention my Really Right Stuff BH-40 Ball Head with L plate which I absolutely love and believe it's the best on market? (I don't get paid for advertising any gear, it's just how I feel about it!) and of course I have steady carbon tripod from Manfrotto. Well pretty much that's it I carry in my bag.Feedback
In landscape photography everything is about the light and timing. Like fishing! Everything is all about how lucky you are! Special advice? Hmm... Have to be carefull on those rocks to don't slip and fall. Can hurt yourself. They are slippery. Try not to change lenses on the beach since salt is everywhere there. Be ready before you get there. Always try different compositions and position. You never will get the same photo so don't afraid of not being original. Light always look different and reflections may too as well. Always be sure you control the situation. And wait for another great light coming your way! Wish you good luck! :)
