Meet Emanuel Entume, he is a 30 year old man who has been experiencing excruciating pain since his early teens. Emanuel has a parasitic infection called "elephantiasis" which is a disease that causes thickening of the skin. It most commonly affects the legs and male genitals. Microscopic worms nesting and reproducing in the human body causes this condition. It is a "vector-born disease," as it is transmitted by the bite of a virus-carrying mosquito.

Emanuel moved from his mother's house to a part of the village that provides him
with basic assistance. He currently lives alone in a small shack, which is about a
meter square, where he struggles to crawl out of his door, just to show us his elephantiasis and ask for our help. Conditions like this can be greatly reduced if
these people had better access to mosquito netting, which allows for reduced exposure
during their times of peak activity.

The Equality Project (nonprofit organization) is working to provide Emanuel with effective anti-parasitic and deworming medication to slow and even stop the spread
of this debilitating and disfiguring disease.

Horrible disease, it hurts my heart to see anyone suffer like this. With the medication, will it reverse the disfigurement any or is this a lifetime problem once it gets to this state?
