Location
Here is a photo of a Damselfly, resting on a shrub in my garden after hatching. It was letting its wings dry out, so it afforded me the time to take several photos whilst it was motionless.Time
The time it was taken was 16.34 after a full day of photography in my local forest.Lighting
The lighting was just a normal british sunny day with cloudless blue skys in May.Equipment
This was shot using a Sony SLT-A77V with a DT 2.8/16-50 SSM lens. no flash was used. no tripod was used, but had to have a steady hand.Inspiration
i love to take photos of wildlife of any sort, macro intrests me and the closer i can get to the subject the better. it was an unusual insect to appear in my garden so i took great pleasure capturing its image.Editing
i croped the picture to bring the subject into better position, and altred the contrast slightly. Choosing this image from the several i took was an easy task as i think it portrays the subject nicely. In my camera bag
Sony A77 with 2.8/16-50lens and 4.5-5.6/75-300 len, and my Canon GX1, the canon i use for ease of use in tight spaces.Feedback
other than being at the right place at the right time, i tend to walk at a snails pace in the garden/forest etc and study all that is around me. patience is the key, and having your camera set up ready for the type of shot you want to take. I generally decide the type of photography i am going to do before i leave the house. so when i see my subject im not loosing the oppertunity by having to set up the camera on location.
