Location
This photo of the San Francisco Bay Bridge was taken at one of the piers near the ATT Ballpark. I was right where the pier meets the bay.Time
I am a night owl so this was taken around 11pm - 12am midnight. I find shots are easier to take and adjust when not a lot of people are around. In this case not a lot of other photographers to jockey for the best shot position.Lighting
I didn't use any artificial lighting for this picture. I had just my tripod and knowledge of long exposure techniques which I am trying to master.Equipment
My camera of choice is the Sony a65. The lens I believe was my 55-200 SAM that I find does a great job. Tripod is also a low budget Sony Tripod (I am a sony fan.) Other than that I only used these pieces of equipment.Inspiration
I love San Francisco and most of my shots are to honor the city of my birth so I plan on shooting a small portfolio of everything I love about SF.Editing
In this particular shot I did not. I have it shown as is, but wanted to try and get it a little bit sharper now that I have lightroom. In my camera bag
I carry the Tamrac 5549 Adventure 9 Backpack and I chose it for when I travel with all my equipment and my 17inch laptop. I call it my mini office. In my bag I carry 3 extra lenses other than my stock sony 18-35mm. My small pouch full of various power cords, usb's, and batteries. My pelican case for SD cards. Sony flash. My Tripod accessories like slide plate and extra rubber for the feet. Survival knives, first aid kit, hand warmers and a map. I also keep a mophie with me everywhere I go to keep my phone charged. In the very top I keep my wireless Bluetooth speaker. Two Motorola Walkie Talkies and a BaoFeng. As well as a high powered flashlight, headlamps, and fire-starter kit. Although I don't always need the majority of these items in the urban landscapes that I travel in I like to get used to carrying that weight for when I do plan on being out in nature.Feedback
Patience is the key to most shots in my opinion. Adjusting your aperature, ISO, and shutter speed is something that takes a while and can produce so many different pictures. Being able to have the patience to fiddle with the adjustments and endure it till you capture the shot is what I learned that night shooting the bridge. After adjusting and adjusting I found one I was happy with and stuck to it. I value the patience I had to line it up.
