Behind The Lens

Location

On an of chance day out we past Barry hawking centre and bird of prey is one of my passions

Time

It was around midday as we had just finished feeding the free roaming turkeys or should I say stopped being chased by the free roaming turkeys

Lighting

It was complete natural lighting

Equipment

Nikon d3100 an entry level camera that I had got for my birthday 55-200 lens 5.5-6.5 since that fateful day and this picture I sold my car to get a Nikon d7000 and lenses and just last week I scrimped and saved to get my dream full format d750 and wow what a camera. Now to save for better lenses

Inspiration

As I was taking pictures of other birds on there perch I noticed that this handsome one was twisting his head to see what I was doing and as I turned my camera to him he twisted his head and I got a shot that I'm so proud of

Editing

I slightly raised the contrast and clarity but very minimal editing was required

In my camera bag

Now adays I have my Nikon d750 18-300 3.5-5.5 Nikon lens and a sb800

Feedback

I prefer to shot animals and nature and I have always found that patience and being ready to get that shot pays dividends. With animals staging photos can be hit and miss and you lose the character of the subject
