Behind The Lens

Location

This image was taken on the KVR trail which is part of Canada's Trans-Canada Trail system in British Columbia Canada

Time

This was just after the core of the visible Milky Way had moved out of view so roughly 1:00 a.m. I believe

Lighting

No, just the realization that the nearly 2 kilometer tunnels lighting left these amazing gridded stripes along the wall so perfectly spaced

Equipment

This was shot with a Nikon D610, 24-70mm 2.8 on a Manfrotto tripod

Inspiration

I was shooting with a fellow photographer and we were attempting something entirely different when we both realized how geometrically perfect this scene was when viewed from the tunnel wals. So we set up and shot at varying heights and angles until we were satisfied with the images we had

Editing

Yes, I actually shot this in monochrome on my Nikon with some built in adjustments in camera. After pulliung it on to my computer I adjusted the shadows and clarity in select areas in Lightroom 5

In my camera bag

I currently travel with a Nikon D750 and Nikon D610, the trinity of a 24-70mm 2.8 14-24mm 2.8 and 70-200mm 2.8. I also depending on the day and shoot travel with a vello shutterboss remote and intervelometer. I just bought a new filter system as well which will be used in my mid day and sunset/sunrise shooting

Feedback

Go new places, explore new things. Shoot high low and frequently. At days end we live in a digital age where we don't run out of shots depending on card size. You will never get that shot you can talk about sitting on your couch.
