Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on the way to one of the beaches in Batam

Time

When moving home from hunting sunset, I saw the sky is very bright and visible in the star-studded sky. Then I opened my smartphone apps to see the constellation Sagittarius, where the stars of Sagittarius is the midpoint of the milkyway. And it turns out milkyway still be in a position to capture, time precisely Sunday 26th of October 2014 19:13:32 PM hours.

Lighting

For my exposure settings 11mm focal length to be able to get a wide angle, aperture f 3.5 because I chose the largest aperture lens. I think 30 seconds is enough to capture more light to enter the lens and not make the star moves, Iso 1250 I choose to be more sensitive and also minimize noise. For feground I rely motorcycle population passed this way.

Equipment

I use a Nikon D300S with 10-24 mm Nikon lens f 3.5-4.5, with a victory tripod and shutter realase 3015 pixels.

Inspiration

For this milkyway photo I chose in October due to security reasons as in the milkyway would show up early around after sunset. So we do not need to stay up too long to wait milkyway, in October we could get a sunset and then continued with the milkyway.

Editing

i'm using Raw files so that later I still can freely in the editing using Lightroom, first I look for the white balance to make the normal color of the sky. Next I use the curve to strengthen texture milkyway, after I export to Photoshop to process noise remover plugin. Then I did risize with my image size before uploading.

In my camera bag

I used to carry one camera with one lens attached, because it would be too troublesome and heavy in carrying it. The equipment I carry depends genre what would I photograph.

Feedback

In the photo milky way to forget all the rules except when nature is not friendly. The spirit of learning has always been a major capital in learning photography. Always browsing techniques milkyway photo, professionals never lie with the tutorial, but we also have to try not just a theory. In this photo I also capture the moon, where a lot of people who inbok me and told me there milkyway impossible when the moon also rises. They do not know that when it is crescent moon light generated so not too big.
