Location
I took this at Wai-iti Beach in Taranaki, New Zealand. I used to live there and still love to visit, particularly on a low tide like this one.Time
It was late afternoon and I decided to go for a walk before dinnerLighting
The lighting wasn't great, just afternoon sun. Not an epic sunrise moment. It was so bright I could shoot at F22 to get a full DOF and still shoot handheld.Equipment
This was handheld with a Nikon D5100 and a kit 18-55mm.Inspiration
I just really liked the shape of the clouds and the cliff reflected in the sand leading into the mountain (Mount Taranaki) in the distance, and the people gave the cliffs a sense of scaleEditing
Yes, it is post processed using photomatix and then I increased the contrast and dropped the brightness slightly with photoshopIn my camera bag
I have upgraded my kit lens to a Nikon 17-55mm and I carry my D5100 hiking. If I know I wont be walking far I take my Nikon D7000 and I have a circular polariser on all of my lenses.Feedback
When you are taking reflection shots get as low as possible. The D5100 swivel screen is great for this! And watch the polariser it can either kill the reflection or turn the sky black.
