Behind The Lens

Location

This photo is taken in a Olimpic swimming pool in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, during International fin swimming competition. It is taken from rhe bottom of swimming pool cca 2,0 m depth.

Time

Photo is taken in a morning, 11 AM, with combination of natural eastern light, and artificial light from two underwater Ikelite DS200 strobes.

Lighting

Lighting is a combination of a natural and artificial light. Beautiful lantern natural light from top of a pool roof, and strobes light from a bottom of a swimming pool. Underwater Strobe lights is set to TTL.

Equipment

Camera is a Canon EOS 5D in a Ikelite underwater housing, with EF 14 mm lens and 8" dome. For flash lights I use Ikelite underwater digital strobes DS200 with TTL cable.

Inspiration

Main inspiration is a combination of swimmer in a pool with roof, which is look like a UFO. UFO is lending on a water surfice, chasing swimmer.

Editing

Post-procesing is made only with curves balans tool.

In my camera bag

This is a big case with all underwater equipment: camera, macro and wide lenses, underwater housing, wide dome, flat port for housing, underwater strobes with clamps, TTL cables, maintance equipment, silica gel, focus lights, speare parts etc.

Feedback

First of all underwater photographer mus be a excellent scuba diver. Balans is on a first place, and shallow breathe on a second. You must know that light is changed underwater, and use this knowledge. Perfect composition and light balance is also important.
