Photo shot in Canada while my grandson was having a rare visit with Great Grandma. Taken at her home with family gathered around visiting with our newest addition. Getting everyone together is a challenge, so it was a special visit. Simply called out his name and he glanced over. Click :-)Time
He was napping just once a day by now but photo opps still revolved around his scheduled day. This was later in the day shortly after awakening. Toddlers are more passive upon awakening and less conflicting.Lighting
There was good natural lighting which is always preferable especially when it comes to kids. One flash and their guard comes up for the next snap. Keep it natural, go with the flow ... and things evolve better for all around (especially in a group setting). The first pic may be your best shot because after that kids catch on quick. No flash and go stealth mode.Equipment
No tripod. Best captures are spontaneous moments best suited to random flexibility. Canon EOS 60D. Lens EFS18-200mm, 1:3.5-5.5 IS. There was good natural lighting, no flash.Inspiration
He is a beautiful boy and grandson. Time with Great Grandma is rare and precious. No time to waste, his unabashed pure joy abounds! Go for it!Editing
None. Just clicked enhance. Best is easy. Easier the better. In my camera bag
Basics. The more I have, the less I use. I like simplicity. It works better for my style, and me personally. If it gets too complicated I will enjoy it less. I love capturing the simple moments. Someone once said "Keep it simple stupid". Lol. I'm not stupid but simple works for me and my passion. I want to keep it that way.Feedback
Use natural light as much as possible. Kids and animals are unpredictable. Have an idea what you want to capture in advance so you have the right equipment depending on the environment and setting. Otherwise, you will get caught up in worrying about preparation and miss those golden split second treasures. Go with the flow... and keep it simple :-)
