Sunsets in the Illinois country side can be very beautiful. Weather can change in the Midwest in minutes and if your lucky, you can catch the show that mother nature puts on in a great image. This day the clouds started moving in about 30 minutes before sunset. Driving on the back roads I found this field of roll bails and thought it would make a great image.Editing
This image was made from a 3 exposures and processed in Photomatix Pro and Lightroom. In my camera bag

For me when I shoot a sunrise or sunset I like to start 30 to 45 minutes before sunset or sunrise. I take several shots at different exposures and settings as the sunset or sunrise changes every couple of minutes. I usually make sure that I am in a location that I can get as much of the horizon as possible without the distraction of electrical wires etc. I guess my best advice is that you can never take to many shots and don't be afraid to try several different settings and lens combinations to get the image you are looking for.
