Location
I took this picture at the gardens at Dumbarton Oaks in Georgetown (Washington, DC).Time
It was mid-afternoon on a summer day and the sky was a bit cloudy and threatening to rain. I was in the lower garden chasing these butterflies around. I caught site of this monarch and and saw it land on top of a tall Mexican Sunflower. I had to hold my camera over my heard to get the angle I wanted and stand very still. Luckily the butterfly cooperated.Lighting
Cloudy with little peaks of sunshine so it worked out really well.Equipment
My camera and my instinct.Inspiration
I love butterflies and I love photographing them. I often scouted the best places to find them.Editing
I think I may have just trimmed the size a little and lightened it up a little. That's it.In my camera bag

Scout locations for the subject you want to photograph, check weather reports, and chase down your subject until you catch it on film.
