Behind The Lens
Location
I took this photo in my home town - Luton, England. I actually took this in a rougher area of town and loved the colour of the leaves.Time
I took this photo at about 11am on an Autumn day. I wanted to capture the perfect lighting that showed the true colour of the leaves.Lighting
The lighting reflects both on, off and through the leaves - it's such a unique capture. The lighting shows the true colours coming through and detail within the leaves.Equipment
I used a Canon EOS 600D with a standard 18-55mm lens and of course, nature's light.Inspiration
I was looking for something unique to incorporate for a final piece for a high school project. I wanted it to look natural, focused nicely in the foreground and blurred for the background - creating a nice depth of field. It just captured something you might see everyday on the street but captured in such a way that it looks beautiful.Editing
Honestly, the only thing I did was use curves in Photoshop to bring out the colours more on the leaves and boost tones and create more contrast. In my camera bag
Most of the time, I just carry my Nikon D5300 with 18-55mm lens. Most of the time, it's all I need. I'm looking to invest in a Canon and maybe a few more lenses and lens filters.Feedback
To capture something similar to this, look for something ordinary and try to look at different lighting and angles to try it look that little bit extraordinary. It may need some post-editing but the outcome is always worth it.
