I took this at the Statue of Liberty state park in NYC.Time
We arrived on the island around noon. I remember the children were hungry and we had to buy them lunch before really exploring.Lighting
It was in the summer and a bright sunny day. I didn’t remember there being any clouds in the sky until I looked back at the photos.Equipment
I took this on my Nikon 5100, Aperture f/8.0, ISO 1000, Shutter speed 10/40000. I was still learning about going manual, so was playing quite a bit with my settings.Inspiration
I took multiple shots that day from as many angles as I could. This one was directly under the statue and in that moment it was just me and her.Editing
I believe I bumped up saturation a hair but was still learning Photoshop so didn’t play around with post processing much then.In my camera bag
Depending on what kind of shoot that I’m doing. If I’m going out for nature shots, I bring my 15-55 mm and my 55-300 mm lenses. If it’s my children or family sessions, I bring my 50-200 mm lens as well as my 50 mm prime. If it’s for a family vacation, bring them all since I never know what I will encounter!Feedback
Take all the shots you can! A landmark is not going to move so you will have to be the one to move around. Don’t be afraid to make a fool of yourself, get high and get low. However, remember to be respectful to both the monument/site and the other visitors. Be patient and you’ll get the shot you are after.
