Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken on the highway home. Kind of a no-brainer with the flowers and the sky, and of course the one standout sunflower on the right.

Time

Late afternoon to early evening

Lighting

Exposed for sky of course, so had to correct exposure of the sunflowers in post production (Lightroom)

Equipment

Shot with Canon 6D and EF 24-105 zoom 1:4

Inspiration

I had passed this field several times but it was the sky on this occasion that made it worth stopping.

Editing

Yes, adjusted upwards for contrast and sharpness, then used a graduated filter to adjust the exposure in the bottom half of the photo (sunflowers). I could have increased exposure more for the flowers but this was a matter of taste

In my camera bag

small point and shoot camera (canon), prime lens canon f1.8, Sigma macro 105mm f2.8, Canon flash, Canon Speedlite 430 ex, Spare battery and charger, spare memory cards, notebook and pen, cleaning supplies.

Feedback

Look for something different in everyday events (eg. the sky, the standout sunflower) Look for something representing a clear definition of season, Vary exposures and angle of view
