Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my home which is located in Southwestern Pennsylvania. It was a very lazy evening in the house and when I walked into my living room to edit some photos I spotted my cat, Mittens, all curled up on the couch. I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to take the shot. So glad I didn't!

Time

It was evening time around 6:30 when I captured the image. I just got finished with dinner and was walking into the living room to check out the images I just took that morning when I saw my cat all curled up in a ball on the couch. She looked adorable and completely innocent! I couldn't resist!

Lighting

The only lighting that was used for this particular image was the sunlight that was beaming into my picture window and the flash on my Canon it's self!

Equipment

This was shot using a Canon EOS Rebel T5i along with a Canon EF 75-300mm Telephoto Zoom lens and the Camera's original flash.

Inspiration

I was out all that morning capturing sunset photos and I was exhausted to say the least. When I finished dinner and went into the living room to find Mittens sleeping so peacefully it completely relaxed me. Her calmness is what ultimately inspired me.

Editing

No Post-processing was used for this image. What you see is what you get!

In my camera bag

As an amateur photographer I don't carry much in my photography bag. I don't go anywhere without my Canon EF 75-300mm Telephoto Zoom Lens. Right now that is my favorite lens. I also carry my filters and my wide angled lens. Last but not least my photography bag wouldn't be complete without Lens cleaner!! How can you take photos with a messy lens?

Feedback

My advice to anyone trying to capture a similar photo is don't be afraid to zoom in! I'll be the first one to admit I love to fit as much of an object into a photo as I can but sometimes simple is better. Don't be afraid to get up close and personal to your object. Sometimes details are what makes a photo.
