Photographer arrested for shooting people for fun. I was on a summer holiday in Las Vegas but the year was 1998. This time I had to fake it.

Behind The Lens

Location

Photos were taken in a local forest in Kuopio, Finland.

Time

It was about ten a clock.

Lighting

It was cloudy and light was pretty even all around.

Equipment

Camera was on a tripod and I used radio remote to trigger it. Settings were same for all the photos: Nikon D800 with Nikon AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED at 24mm and f/13, 1/3sec, ISO 100

Inspiration

I wanted to make something outside instead of a studio since it was summer time and I came up with this idea of surreal hands series in the forest.

Editing

All hands were layered in photoshop to make one picture. Several layers of dodging and burning, color modification and so on were added after that. Glamour glow for the forest was added using Nik Color Efex Pro.

In my camera bag

Most of the time it's Nikon D800, 24-70mm f/2.8 and 70-200mm f/2.8. Occasionally wideangle or macro lens.

Feedback

I usually have my ideas sketched in a note book beforehand. They are not something that I would hang on my wall but give me an idea what I need for my picture. So my picture is somehow ready before I even touch my camera. There are often changes on the way but nevertheless this kind of workflow works for me quite well.
