Location
I remember walking out onto the steps down a garden path in my backyard, and knowing that I wanted to take a photo of the solar eclipse!Time
I took this photo early in the morning before I went to school. I usually don't have time before I catch the bus, but I couldn't let this photo go to waste.Lighting
My brother, actually, who showed me how to filter out a lot of light by using 3D cinema glasses. This way I could see the unique crescent shape of the sun.Equipment
I used my canon kiss X4. I used a regular lens, and I only played with the settings slightly - it was the beauty of nature that did all the work in this photo.Inspiration
Some things only happen once in a lifetime, and photography is one of the only things that can capture a small part of that moment. I wanted to take this photo so that I could prove that I was present during the solar eclipse.Editing
I only increased the contrast slightly in order to highlight the sun.In my camera bag
I usually just have my canon camera, and a macro lens in my bag in case I see something tiny but spectacular. To be honest I'm still in the very early stages of learning to use everything in that bag!Feedback
Play with lighting. I never thought that omitting a lot of light could reveal something so different. I am certainly not an expert, but what I can say is look out for photos for every minute of the day. You may find something that everyone else has overlooked.
