This photo was taken at Berry College in Rome, GA. I am not a professional photographer so every new experience becomes a photo lesson.Time
This photo was taken in the evening, early fall. My husband and I decided to go for a drive and ended up at Berry College. We happened upon this swan and I snapped a couple of shots. Even then, though I enjoyed the beauty of the scenery, I didn't realize I had actually captured the essence of the scene.Lighting
I loved the golden yellow of the pine, with the sun setting and hit the branches of the pine, it seemed to glow.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon Powershot SX 30 IS. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
When ever I go for an outing, I take my camera. Photography is my passion, especially scenery. The golden color of the pine is actually what caught my attention at first. As I started walking towards the pine, I noticed the swan. I had already taken some far away shots, just in case the swan decide to move away. As I got closer, I was thrilled to see that the swan was not paying any attention and I was able to get a few more shots before she swam away from my golden pine.Editing
No, I didn't make any changes to the original. In my camera bag
I am quite generic or natural when it comes to my photography. I do have a couple of lens covers to help decrease the amount of glare in some photos. I also have a tripod that I rarely use. I prefer free hand, quick capture photographs. I do use my tripod when I am taking long exposure photos, but otherwise, I prefer to be in control of my camera.Feedback
I would suggest taking shots earlier or later in the day for the best light. For me, natural light creates beautiful pictures so I try to set my photo sessions, hikes, etc. around the best time of the day, usually the evening. Mid-day light is too harsh, in my opinion, so I try not to set sessions at that time unless it is unavoidable. Also, find where your passion lies. I will take pictures of friends, family, and the occasional paid session but my passion lies in scenery. Therefore, I feel my scenery pictures show my passion more than my other pictures. I also enjoy scenery shots more than other shoots. Find your passion!
