Location
This photos was taken next the the George Pompidou Center In Paris, France.Time
I took it during one of my morning fall walk trough the street of paris, during a cloudy day of September 2012.Lighting
when doing street photography you have to do with the natural light. Here hopefully it was a cloudy day so we had a nice soft and even light on the scene, just like with a nice huge softbox.Equipment
On the street we don't use a lot of equipment, I only use one body one lens kit to shoot those street photos. My gear is composed of a Nikon D90 Body , MB-D80 battery grip and a Nikon 35mm F/1.8 Dx lens for this pic.Inspiration
It is difficult to explain what inspired me to take this photo. But to make short, when I saw this homeless man, whom had noting to eat for himself but manage to find food for those pigeons, I though to my self that it was a powerful message for all people. That money is not everything , and that even with noting you can take care of other with out thinking of you.Editing
Here I did not do much post-processing. This image is nearly as it was taken. The only thing that I did was to use Silver ex pro 2 from Nik software , to put the photo in black & white, ad contraste , structure, and a bit a vignetting to it. other wise the all scene is as it happen. In my camera bag
At the time of this photo, in my bag there was only my body ( Nikon D90) with one lens on it ( Nikon 35mm DX), an other 8Go Sandisk SD card, a bottle of water, and things to eat. Today it is quite different. I now have a nikon D7200 , with a Nikon 50mm F/1.4 , Sigma Art 35mm F/1.4 , a Nikon SB900 cobra flash, a lasolite round reflector, a bunch of memory card from sandick, battery for the flash and body, a lens pen, business cards, a colorchecher passport , my Ray-ban and still my bottle of water.Feedback
To capture something similar, something powerful , and full of meaning, you have to leave your fear at home. You have to be able to identify an interesting scene before it happens, because in the street everything happens quickly in just 1/2 second. So don't hesitate go in and take the photo.
