Remarkable photo. The detail in the henna against the beauty of her skin is superb.

Location
I took this photo in my downstairs living room opposite our full length double doorsTime
It was around 1-2pm in the afternoon. At this time the natural light is perfect.Lighting
I used natural lighting coming in from our glass full length back doors. The day was slightly overcast so the clouds acted like a natural diffuser. I love using natural light as it the shadows all fall where they're suppose to be.Equipment
I used a Nikon d3100 with its default 18-55mm lens and a manfrotto tripod with a remote control.Inspiration
I love doing henna art and I am really inspired by the middle eastern origins of it. I wanted to try and capture that essence with a western twist - using myself as the model. I also painted on the body art myself.Editing
Yes, I changed my eye colour to turquoise and just generally enhanced the shadows and highlights to make the image pop.In my camera bag
a Nikon D3100 camera, 18-55mm default lens, 55-70mm lens, 40mm prime lens, a manfrotto tripod and a wired remote control.Feedback
Doing self portraiture is a great way to increase your knowledge in photography. You're forced to make sure the angle is correct and the lighting, as you have no control once you're in front of the lens. Have a go of recreating yourself! Its great fun and great practice in photoshop as well to completely accurately achieve what you're aiming for.
