As soon as I saw this I thought it was the Peaks, is it by Mam Tor and the road to Edale? Great shot by the way.

hi Stuart - yep, spot on! Looking forward to going back when the days are a bit shorter and spending some more time round there

Location
I took this photo from the side of Mam Tor, in the Peak District when the weather was cold and the winds bitter.Time
I took this photo at around 6pm in early JanuaryLighting

I've always loved taking traffic trail photos and I've always loved the Peak District, the two just work so well together!Editing
Yes, this is two exposures of different lengths blended together, one for the traffic trails and landscape, the second shorted exposure to retain some detail in the sky.In my camera bag
My trusty canon EOS 6d, 17-40mm F4 L, 24-105mm f4 L. If I'm reasonably near the car/home/campsite I'll take my larger giottos tripod, if I'm hiking I take my manfrotto BeFree lightweight tripod. Hitech hard grad ND filter set & holder, Hoya CPL.Feedback
Find an interesting road, try to go at a reasonable time, winter can be perfect for this. If you don't go at a reasonable time and the road is normally quiet anyway, you'll find yourself waiting for what seems like a life time for each car to come. And it will be cold.
