Location
This photo was taken in my home in The Bahamas. I was trying a new lens, nikon 85mm f 1.8g, combined with the nikon d300, a dream camera. My challenge was having my model, the family's new three year old boy pose long enough for me to get the photo. I finally convinced him to show me his new teeth - hence the title of the photo -:baby's new teeth.Time
This photo was taken around 7am eastern standard time. My model faced a large eastern window which was covered in dust.Lighting
The early morning sunlight filtered by the dust provided a beautiful glow on the model's skin.Equipment
I shot with the nikon d300 camera and nikon 85mm f1.8g lens. I used a tripod.Inspiration
I wanted to make portraits of subjects in my immediate environment - children, dogs and cats. The camera, lens combination is one of the best I have used for portraits.Editing
Very little post processing was required. This was a jpeg image. I may have used Picassa and Lightroom. In my camera bag
Nikon d300 and d750 cameras. Nikon - 12- 24 mm f4, 16- 35 mm f4, 85mm f1.8g and 70 - 200mm f2.8 lens. Manfrotto tripodFeedback
Eastern morning filtered light is excellent for portraits. The cooperation of young subjects is achieved by the offer of treats and lots of praise. Lastly, the prime lens is easier to manage for shooting portraits.
