Behind The Lens

Location

In my garden in a Silver Birch tree. Victoria, Australia.

Time

Around 12-1pm during the day.

Lighting

It was a nice bright day, and the subject happened to be in a position where it was in good clear natural light.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D3200 DSLR camera, a 18-55mm Nikkor lens, with Hoya +1 and +4 magnifier filters. Natural light.

Inspiration

I was actually walking out in my front garden with the purpose of taking some close-up shots of flowers when I nearly walked into the little guy! I love taking shots of bugs, spiders, butterfly's any sort of creepy crawlies, so this was an opportunity not to be missed for me! :)

Editing

Yes. Using Photoshop I reduced noise, slightly sharpened the image and adjusted light and contrast just a little to enhance the subject.

In my camera bag

Nikon D3200 DSLR camera, a set of Hoya +1, +2, +3, +4 magnifier filters . A Nikkor 18-55mm lens and a Sigma 70-300mm lens with lens hood. A Kenko polarizer filter, a gray card, and spare SD card.

Feedback

Be patient and keep your eye open! There is always something to be found outside in the garden :) It helps if you have a macro lens or magnifier filters to really get in close and pick up all the small details of the subject.
