Location
I took this photo in my pool.Time
It was 12:58:47 on 2 Sep 2013, horrible noon time sun. ; )Lighting
This shot is natural light, I would give the pool float a little shove and watch the shadows and composition as Ashley moved in the frame.Equipment
This shot was made handheld with a Nikon D600 and a 28-300 at 300 MM, setings were 1/3200 at f5.6, ISO 100.Inspiration
The entire weekends theme was 70s house party. The colors and Ashley's shape begged for this shot.Editing
All post was done in LR, i pumped up the clarity on the float and the water, changed the tone for more of a film look.In my camera bag
I carry a D600, D810 and one of several film bodies when I go out. My go to lenses are a 17-35 F2.8 and a 70-200 f4. i sometimes use the 85 1.8 or 50 1.4. I prefer zoom lenses as they alow me to rapidly change composition from wide to close without having to move, causing me to possibly miss a fleeting moment.Feedback
The advise I would give is to go out and shoot what you love. Find people, places or things that you are passionate about and shoot it over and over until you learn what makes you happy. This is what has helped me to develop my style. My final tip is to first and foremost shoot for yourself.
