Thank you again. I went to an antique shop and purchased those old victorian dresses and brought the girls to the beach for this experiment.I was trying to capture a sense of timeless play and innocent abandon at the beach.

Congratulations. The ocean looks angry and well, scary. The girls are happy, unlike the water. Very nice shot.

Location
RE La Playa:This is a beach on the 'Lost Coast' in Northern California. It is frequently overcast here. The beach is about a two miles from the historic Victorian Town of Ferndale, California.Time
I began shooting shortly after the girls were out of school, about 4:00 Pm PSTLighting
It is frequently overcast here and this is exactly what I was hoping for. No strobes.Equipment
I shot with my Canon OES 20D with a ultra wide 16-35mm lens hand held.Inspiration
The dark sand and soft overcast lighting was key for the mood I wanted. I tried to capture the joy and spontaneous friendship in a timeless setting. I bought some old Victorian Gowns for the girls to wear for this series.Editing
I did some saturation burning in the frosty foam and some burning in the sky. I erased a few of the extra footprints to leave only the ones visible. In my camera bag
I now keep a Canon Mark II and 3 lenses in my bag. The 70-200 2.8, 16-35mm 2.8, and the 24-105mm 5.6 all Canon. A strobe and some flex reflectors.Feedback
The best shots that came from this afternoon unfolded as I allowed the girls to simply 'play' with the waves in a natural manner. I wanted to catch the joy and laughter of friendship in a candid look. So I shot about 100 exposures. Actually I have about 25 amazingly beautiful images that are evocative from this exercise. Let the action unfold in a natural way with as little 'direction' as possible. Kids often forget your there and do the best on their own in nature.
