I took this when I was in Cambodia at one of the many waterfalls. I'd been travelling around Cambodia for the past month, and had been directed to these falls by a local I had met the previous day. It was off the beaten track, that's how I like to travel. I only had an old battered camera with me and small light mini tripod that I could keep in a backpack.Time
It was early evening, there was a couple of children balancing on a rock in front of me, and I took photos of them first before I saw this young man making his way up the waterfall. He had some shampoo in his hand so I guessed he might go and stand under the falls. Luckily the shampoo never made it into the shot!Lighting
It was all natural light.Equipment
I had an old battered Canon G10 and a mini tripod with me. I'd been travelling around Cambodia for the past month, and had been directed to these falls.Inspiration
I started to take a few pictures of the falls to get the correct composition, choosing a slightly slower shutter speed to get the blurred water effect. There was an interesting branch that had all its bark ripped off it, and I focused on that to get the correct aperture. As I started to take more pictures, I saw this young man start to climb the falls, and then he stopped when he was directly underneath and looked out. I snapped him.Editing

I have an old Canon Eos 550 with about 4 lenses. Nothing special - a 24mm f2.8, a 90mm f4 macro lens, a 18-55mm zoom and a 70-200mm zoom. I mostly use the 18-55 or 70-200, but got the 24mm to do star photography. I have a small tripod and recently got a Sony DSC-HX80 which I take everywhere. Unfortunately, my old Canon G10 died.Feedback
It was a lucky shot as most shots are. But if you are planning to photograph something, make sure you arrive with plenty of time, frame the picture well, and take it from different angles. If you can, go back and take it at different times of day and even at night to give you the best possible shot.
