Location
I captured this near Santa Cruz CA.Time
I captured this at sunset.Lighting
The lighting and colors were amazing, and wanted to try to create something a bit abstract .Equipment
I currently carry a Nikon D7100 and I used a Niikkor 10-24 lens, all that sat on my my trusty Bogen carbon tripod, equipped with a Arch Swiss head.Inspiration
I had captured a number of images that froze the wave action that evening then I started playing with slower and slower shutter speeds, creating nice effects that I have done many times before, but I wanted something different so, I made sure my tripod head was dead level and left the slower shutter speeds on the camera started to twisted the loose tripod collar during the exposures, creating this image.Editing
I did saturate the image a bit to bring back the colors I recalled from that evening. In my camera bag
In addition to the the fore-mentioned equipment I carry a Nikkor 70-200 F2.8 lens. I tend to be a minimalist as to what I carry as it get heavy on long hikes.Feedback
Try various shutter speeds an different degrees of twist to the tripod collar and see what you like.
