This is the spore cones of the ground pine, which is actually a clubmoss. It is known by other names as well, but the scientific name is Lycopodium Obscurum. Kind of sounds like a spell out of Hogwarts doesn't it? The scientific name Lycopodium is from the Greek lycos, ‘wolf’, and podus, ‘foot’, after a fancied resemblance of club-moss leaves to a wolf’s paw
