As you drive past, neither the Stokksnes headland nor the Vestrahorn mountain are particularly noticeable. Both are rather inconspicuous and are not necessarily located in such a way that you would notice them from the street. But what exactly is there to see here? There is the gigantic dune landscape and the beautiful lagoon. And as the icing on the cake, there is also the Vestrahorn mountain in the background. Certainly one of the most photogenic mountains on the entire island. It's the overall picture here that just fits. The green blades of grass on the black dunes, the grains in the sand, reflections in the lagoon, the (sun)light plays and an extremely gently sloping black beach. Unique! The Vestrahorn mountain is a grateful motif. It's actually just part of a much larger mountain range. In addition to him, there is also the Eystrahorn. This eastern part of the same massif is known to locals as Batman Mountain, primarily because of its mountain, Brunnholl. Incidentally, Vestrahorn is one of only a few mountains in Iceland that is not made of lava, but rather of igneous plutonic rock.
