Bodes Galaxy and the Cigar Galaxy are tidally locked to each other engaged and in a cosmic dance. About 600,000 years ago Bode's Galaxy interacted with the Cigar Galaxy causing a very prominent starburst as shock waves were sent up the arms of M82 to its core.
