Location
This particular image was captured while driving in NYC traffic. I used my iPhone X through the sunroof of my car to get this shot. I was drawn to the angles of the buildings when I looked up.Time
This is one of those pictures that you get when you stumble across the right place at the right time situations. It wasn't planned, it was just "there!" This was taken at dusk, more towards the "sunset" time when there is a golden feel to the atmosphere.Lighting
One of my favorite times of the day to take outdoor pictures is sunset to dusk time of the day. That's exactly the lighting I had when taking this photo. It was just before sunset and there was a glow in the sky. Perfect reflection of light on the buildings that lasted just for a few moments. Luckily I was able to make this image.Equipment
I used my iphone X for this photo. Through a sunroof. Nothing else needed.Inspiration
I love taking random photos of architecture and buildings in general. Different points of view. Different camera angles. Different times of day. Different lighting. If I find a scene even just a little interesting, I will try and capture a moment in time at that scene. But when I looked up and saw the lighting on the buildings, and the particular angles presented, I had to take the picture. It drew me in.Editing
For this picture, all I did was change it to black and white and I felt it made the image more powerful. I used Lightroom to convert it to black and white and then used a phone app to add a quick filter. That was it.In my camera bag
Well for this it was just my iPhone as I didn't have my gear with me. But what's in my bag is the Canon 5D and the newer Canon R6.Feedback
To quote Ansel. "A good photograph is knowing where to stand." That's very much true. However for me, sometimes all you have to do is just look up.
