The Sphinx of the Bucegi Mountains is a geological formation made up of conglomerates, resulting from disaggregation and differentiated erosion , located at 2206 m altitude. The origin of the Sphinx's name is due to its resemblance to a human head, more precisely to the Egyptian Sphinx. Consisting of a large block of stone that took its present form over a long period of time, the Sphinx of Bucegi, located on the Bucegi plateau, measures 8 meters in height and 12 meters in width.
