Location
This photo was taken at a used book store in Phoenix, AZ called Bookmans.Time
This was taken close to closing time of the store. I wanted to make sure that there was little traffic there and also to shoot during the week. I did what i could to not bring to much attention to my subject or me as well.Lighting
Being in the book store i didn't want to bring a strobe or a flash with me, cause it would've bothered those that are still reading also didn't want to bring attention to me or my model. The lighting is just the normal store lights that are extremely warm toned and had to adjust for white balance.Equipment
The equipment that i used was a Canon 5D mklll with a Zeiss 35mm Prime f 1.4Inspiration
I wanted to shoot in a library originally but I remembered that there was a used book store I could use. At first i wanted go with a Alice in Wonderland look with Alice reading in the library but again things had to change. I just ended up going with a shy but confident look but with a twist of fashion in there. Ive always love colors to pop in my images and just happy with all the book colors and the shelves that they were on.Editing
I did a lot of post work on this image. not just working with the white balance but i had to also get it sharpened as well. Using the 35mm Zeiss lens, its all manual focus and shooting with a f1.4 was one of the challenges that i had to face. For post processing i used Lightroom to bring down the highlights and to bring up the shadows. Its also where i adjusted to color saturation as well as the color luminance. Once all the colors and lighting is right in Lightroom, i moved the image into Photoshop and from there i removed blemishes, imperfections and i also boosted the image color to really make it pop. I added the last of the sharpening and exported it out.In my camera bag
In my camera bag, i tend to carry a canon Nefty-Fifty and extra batteries as well. I also have some filters that i have with me that i purchased from Prism FX and a prism as well.Feedback
My advice is that, if you're trying to shoot in a book store. You must take in consideration of how tight of a space that you are going to be working in and that have a telephoto lens wouldn't work out to your advantage. Another advice is always keep an eye out for the right lighting source. Being in a store, you tend to work with grid overhead lighting and is not the greatest or flattering lighting. Finally, think of the composition along with color scheme. What colors will work for that environment and what shapes are you looking for and how can the image pop and bring interest to the image.
