Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is an English automobile company subsidiary of the German BMW group, being one of the most renowned in the world. The brand, synonymous with quality and high standard of comfort, has also become famous for the manufacture of expensive automobiles and generally intended for members of royalty and heads of state around the world.
It was founded on March 15, 1906, by Frederick Henry Royce and Charles Stewart Rolls, as a division of Rolls-Royce Limited, which since 1973 has been subdivided into two other companies: Rolls-Royce plc, currently manufacturer of aviation and navigation, and Rolls-Royce Motors, purchased by Volkswagen AG in 1998.
Currently, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is headquartered in Goodwood, West Sussex, England.
