Carcassonne in the Aude department of the Languedoc region in southern France is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The medieval fortress which contains the old town was restored in 1853. The towers capped by conical roofs give the buildings a fairytale look. Textures and toning have been added to give atmosphere.
