Perched on limestone spur, Minerve is a beautiful village with just over one hundred inhabitants. It is located between the sea and the Black Mountain. Difficult to access, the natural bridge that made Minerve powerful is still visible gouged out of the rocks of the Cesse valley. Numerous Cathars and faidit lords who had escaped from the siege of Béziers in 1209 took refuge in the stronghold, protected by the strong fortifications.
