Location
This was taken on a cold September sunrise outside Glacier NP in the Montana badlands.Time
We had been waiting in the dark for the light to start making an appearance and luck would have it with the clouds breaking apart just enough.Lighting
Lighting just worked out like it does sometimes out in nature, just have to wait.Equipment
Canon 5DmkIII, 14-35 wide angle, Manfrotto tripodInspiration
I have wanted an image like this for awhile and being in Montana and liking the stark nature of the badlands opened up this opportunity for me.Editing
Worked in both LR and PP for help draw out the shadows and NIK for some of the color work.In my camera bag
Besides the 5dmkIII I carried for this outing my wide angle the 14-35 and the 24-105L. ND filters of varying strengths a polarizer and graduated filters. Also a wired remote for taking longer shots. Then just the normal stuff, batteries, memory cards, cleaning cloths, rain cover, flashlight, knife, hex wrenches, water, food, just what ever I think I might need.Feedback
Get up early, scout ahead in daylight and dress warm. Be in a little bit of shape because the climb up the bluff in the dark was not all that easy at altitude I am not used too.
